Actor Denies Anti-Vax Stance Following Lending His Voice To Contentious Covid Documentary
The acclaimed actor has lent his vocal talents to a new documentary that questions the safety of vaccinations and lauds former government figure the political figure.
The Documentary's Disputed Foundation
Called "Plague of Corruption," the film is adapted from a well-known publication co-authored by a disgraced researcher, who gained notoriety during the pandemic for allegations that the virus was a result of a bad strain of the flu vaccine.
Her collaborator, a producer, has penned books with conspiracy-prone radio host Alex Jones. Heckenlively took to social media celebrating Neeson's role in the documentary.
An Unequivocal Denial
Representatives for the actor have provided a comment firmly refuting suggestions that he subscribes to anti-vax beliefs.
"We all recognize that misconduct might be present within the pharmaceutical industry, but that should never be equated to being against vaccines," the statement states. "Neeson is not, and remains not, anti-vaccination. His extensive work with Unicef underscores his consistent support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
The response added that the performer had no hand in the documentary's messaging and that concerns about its assertions ought to go to the creators.
Central Assertions In the Feature
According to the documentary, the script read by Neeson includes several strong claims:
- It claims that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "complete compliance" to public institutions.
- It declares that "research has become dangerously influenced by politics."
- Kennedy is interviewed stating, "The big problem with vaccines is that they are not safely tested."
- The narration further attacks pandemic restrictions, saying they caused psychological harm that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- Regarding pandemic shots, it mentions a report that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "risky trials."
Historical Context and Ongoing Disputes
It includes a 2004 BBC documentary about AIDS medication trials on children, which was afterwards the topic of a correction by the broadcaster for violations of guidelines.
In recent weeks, Kennedy called on the CDC to change its longstanding position that there is no connection between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This supposed link is repeated in the documentary, despite a fresh analysis from the WHO stating no connection has been found.
A Past Statement of Support
Standing in contrast to the film's narrative, Neeson has previously shown strong support for vaccines in his capacity as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
In 2022, he called vaccines as "a remarkable human success story," adding that "The debate about vaccines in recent years has forgotten how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in our history."
The film finishes with Neeson's script proclaiming, "This is not the end of our narrative. It is the start of a new chapter."
