Arne Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it was natural for concerns to be asked about his future after another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, representing the club's worst streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got a lot of backing from above,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my position. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I sense the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Failings and Player Reaction

Slot lamented known failings from his team in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a period such as this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to its rightful place, prove again what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
