Nearly 25,000 households in southeastern Queensland woke up lacking electricity on Monday morning after intense storm systems passed over the region, bringing strong winds reaching 109km/h.
Substantial Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Damage
Homeowners witnessed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7cm in some areas. Weather authorities confirmed that different parts across the state had been hit with large hailstones.

At the same time, nearly 1,000 households in Victoria also experienced electricity disruptions after Melbourne experienced its most precipitation in over 500 days.
Emergency response teams responded to nearly 600 emergency reports across the region, mostly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

Damp conditions were predicted to continue along large portions of Queensland's east this coming days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
The following day was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing severe weather risk predicted across various areas of both states.
