Colts Battle Falcons in Berlin – Week 10 NFL Action
Guten tag, fussball enthusiasts. Wie gehts? Alles klar I hope on this excellent morning kickoff to week 10 coming straight outta Deutschland. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be exact where at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST and 2.30pm GMT the powerful Indianapolis Colts (7-2) face off against the Atlanta Falcons (three wins and five losses). The fifth game played on soil in Germany and the first in the nation’s capital.
Pregame Highlights
When it comes to glittering attire that is an real standout from Katarina Witt on the coin toss. A slight fluff from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the presenter with an unfortunately hot mic.
So, the Colts have won the toss and have elected to receive. The Colts' offense will be setting up shortly. Will the QB bounce back after a rough one in their last game?
Not to be outdone the singer belting out the US national anthem has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are bound to notice. The fashion picks are impressive today. The game is about to start after a choral number for the German anthem. Elegant.
First Quarter Action
Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter
Here we go! And we have early drama after Jonathan Taylor catches a screen pass, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right side then loses the ball … only for his offensive lineman to recover the fumble with the ball retrieval. Colts are in Falcons territory already.
Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter
And the drama keeps coming as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The gamble fails to pay off as the wide receiver fails to catch a fastball from Jones. Prior to the failed attempt Jessie Bates put a huge hit on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. Atlanta's defense started strong as they attempt to end their string of three losses. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Score Recap
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was wide open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That moment reflects the high draft pick's professional journey to date.
A disappointing start but it only gets worse for the Falcons as they cough the ball back to the Colts on the 23-yard line. The Falcons quarterback is sacked and can’t keep hold of the ball.
An agile 22-yard rush from the Colts receiver sets Jonathan Taylor up to roll in for the score on the next snap. Kicker Michael Badgley skews the extra point wide. Oops.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
The quarterback recovers from the turnover by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a score of their own. Drake London makes some substantial catches to put them in the red zone then the seas part for the running back to saunter on to the goal line through the middle of the defense for a 13-yard gain. He completes the drive for a short scoring run of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
