Expedition 33 Triumphs at the 2025's Golden Joystick Awards
The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards unfolded this past week, and with a remarkable display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the biggest winner. The surprise role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive secured the esteemed Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Outstanding Narrative and Best Visual Design.
Complementing the developer's success, the skilled cast also garnered individual awards. Jennifer English won Outstanding Lead Performance for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Supporting Performance Award for his role as Verso. Furthermore, Sandfall Interactive itself was named Top Studio. Overall, Clair Obscur and its makers won 7 awards throughout the ceremony.
Additional major winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which was awarded Best Audio Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and PC Game of the Year. Worth mentioning, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the public, with only 4 special—Critics Choice, Rising Star, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamers’ Choice—decided by critics.
