Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Regional Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is unclear and the United States has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
