Prince William Set to Attend COP30 Climate Summit in Brazil
Prince William is scheduled to attend the COP30 climate summit in Brazil next month, as confirmed by palace sources.
Prince William and King Charles appeared together on Thursday night at a gathering ahead of the climate summit, which is planned for in the Amazonian city of Belém.
The King and Prince were present at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a climate summit preparatory event organized in partnership with the British authorities.
Environmental Advocacy Dedication
The King has been a longstanding advocate of protecting nature - and the Prince of Wales has inherited the mission, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be taking place in South America preceding the COP summit.
Official representatives have portrayed the Prince's participation at the forthcoming conference as taking on an important role in "global climate discussions".
Previous Activities
The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the official car, were introduced to participants featuring conservation experts, researchers, climate change campaigners, diplomats and government officials.
This engagement included speaking together with French leader Macron of the French Republic and other world leaders at the Marine Economy Conference in the Principality of Monaco earlier this year.
Environmental Prize Connection
The COP30 summit will align with the the royal's Earthshot environmental awards, which will wrap up in Rio de Janeiro the previous day he joins the COP summit on 6 November.
In recent days the prince referred to the Earthshot finalists as "contemporary champions".
Monarch's Environmental Record
King Charles has been a prominent presence at past COP meetings, delivering the inaugural speech in Dubai for COP28, including the observation: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".
"For decades I've committed a significant amount of my life trying to raise awareness about the existential threats confronting humanity over climate change, global temperature increases and ecological decline," the King told attendees.
