Mikel Arteta claims that substitute players in his squad could be increasingly vital than starters in the current campaign—a philosophy he reveals borrowing from the sport of rugby.

Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard both found the net—assisting one another—after entering as late replacements to secure a two-goal win for Arsenal against Athletic Club in the first Champions League match.

Recent Struggles and Arteta's Faith

The 24-year-old has endured a tough period recently, losing form and being relegated to substitute duty, with recent acquisition Eberechi Eze chosen on the left flank.
