Both young individuals who were killed in the weekend's violent attack in Providence had tributes paid to them on Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their shooter persisted following the discharge by authorities in Rhode Island of the sole person of interest in the case.
Honoring a Lost Student
The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, according to the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a service on Sunday.
Her role included the vice-presidency of Brown’s division of the College Republicans organization, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also expressed condolences on social media, remarking: “Words cannot express. Thinking of her loved ones and companions, particularly her mother and father.”

The other person killed was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his initial year at the prestigious university, family members said.
The victim's identification was confirmed by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He harbored grand aspirations of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.
The Shooting Incident
An additional nine individuals were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.
Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-old male taken into custody in a police operation at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was being released.
“A perpetrator remains free,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.
Neronha explained, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you need to change course and go in another, and that is the current situation over the last 24 hours or so.”
Community Anxiety
The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “It is expected to provoke new worry for our public”.
The gunman discharged a weapon inside a room in the building on Saturday afternoon, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a 9mm handgun, a law enforcement official reported to the Associated Press.
Law enforcement that entered the inn found two firearms and magazines when the person of interest was taken into custody, the news agency reported.
Condition of the Injured
Regarding the nine injured, one pupil was allowed to go home, mentioned Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in critical but stable condition, and another was critically ill, officials reported on Sunday.
An educational institution, a private academy in Durham, North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.
Additional Memorials
Cook was remembered at a church service in Birmingham on Sunday. A reverend stated, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only in her youth... but at the university she was a radiant presence in that specific location as well.”
The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, shared a message from the organization. “Ella was recognized for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she served her chapter and other students,” he said.
The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by the passing of Umurzokov in a tribute. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to Mr Umurzokov’s family, companions, and schoolmates and mourn the loss of his potential.”
